Operation Blessing International - Living Water Projects: Ghana
Description of the project: There was complete rehabilitation of the old well. After it had been deepened and the debris removed, the walls were scraped, washed, and give a coat of mortar. The surroundings were cleaned of filth and rubbish and the drainage was improved to prevent erosion. A new concrete cover was put in place while a new Nira pump was installed to the use of the community.
Description of the village: This is a small village of pineapple farmers. They also produce food crops and live in mud brick houses on the farms. There is no school or church in the village and so they walk 3 miles to the next community for service.
Description of the well dedication: There was a durbar held by the people and the word of God was presented to them. They were warned of the coming of the Lord and the consequences for those who fail to live for Him. Some of those who decided to live for the Lord were prayed for, counseled and advised to fellowship with any Bible-believing church of their choice. About 40 people attended the ceremony.
Salvations: 12 people made decisions to live for the Lord.
Expressions of appreciation by the villagers:
"We knew we were drinking polluted water, but we had no choice and so continued to do so until you came to help us. Thank you very much for coming to help us." - Anthony Nketiah, village elder
Letter of appreciation from Rev. Pat Robertson to Mattie Kinard,
